New Year’s Eve is going to look different this coming year but it doesn’t mean you can’t kick 2020 to the curb in style. There are plenty of virtual and socially responsible events still happening in Chicago this year. Below is a list of what we’ve found and think you’ll enjoy, but since these are unusual times be sure to double-check if events are still happening closer to the date!
Julian’s 2020 NYE House Party at the Drive-in
Dance party in your car at this drive-in NYE celebration. Fireworks, an extensive live music line up, and concessions will all be taking place for you to ring in 2021. Tickets are per vehicle and include 4 tickets in total. While you can get food and drinks at the event you will be required to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from others not in your group while not in your car.
New Year’s Eve 5K
Although you can’t actually run side by side with anyone at the waterfront this year, the 5k has gone virtual. Run the 5k on your own schedule from December 26th to January 3rd and share your results afterward. This virtual event is a great way to get a head start on your new year’s resolutions and run for a great cause. A portion of the registration fees go to Direct Relief, an organization that helps provide protective gear for healthcare workers.
New Philharmonic New Year’s Eve Concert
This live stream of the musical stylings of the New Philharmonic premiers on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve and will be available on-demand until January 3rd. Ring in the new year with Strauss waltzes and polkas. There will even be singing surprises!
